At Polygon, we’re proud of the work we do, and even prouder of the people who do it.
Life here is hands-on, supportive, and built around doing things properly. Whether you’re out on site, based in a depot, or part of a support team behind the scenes, you’ll find a business where people look out for each other and take real pride in what they deliver.

It’s the kind of place where you can grow into roles you didn’t even know you’d enjoy. I’ve been encouraged to learn, stretch myself and try new things, that’s what’s kept me here for over a decade. The culture is supportive and the people genuinely want to see you do well. Everyone is happy to share what they know, which makes a big difference!

I walked out of a very high paid job due to being bullied by my direct supervisor and colleagues and shortly after, I lost my dad to cancer. I took a break from work and in April 2015, when the money was running out, I took a temp job, just for a day, working reception at a local building company .I spent my day on reception, and Kate Sunderland asked if I would like to do some admin work, to which I agreed. She asked me to train the new temp at reception the following day, and I moved into the ops office.
A few weeks later, an internal vacancy was advertised for a Compliance Supervisor - I asked Kate if I could apply and sent her my CV. She called me to her office because I was through an agency, and she'd never seen my CV. She told me to forget the CS job; she hadn't realised I'd managed teams, and gave me a job as an assistant manager, looking after a team of 8 claims handlers who processed the new instructions coming in. I was given a permanent contract 6-months later 🙂.
In 2017, the surveying team came into my world, and I was an assistant manager for surveying and new claims. In 2018, I was promoted to claims manager and took full responsibility for the surveying team and surveying admin team; reception was also added to my responsibilities to look after. In 2025, I was given the post approval team to manage, too.
I have been with the company for 10 years in May, I am 60 in April, and there is still not a day that I don't look forward to coming into work. I love my job, I love the people I work with, my team(s) are the best (I'm sure everyone says that, but they truly are).
The support from SMT is unparalleled; the trust they have afforded me to get on and do the job is amazing. Moving from a culture of bullying in my previous employment into the freedom and trust given by SMT took a while to get used to, but I think I have repaid them by coming into work every day and getting on with it. They've never moved me from my original role managing new claims admin - they just keep adding more haha.
I hope to end my career here at Polygon - when people ask me where I want to be in 5-years, I can honestly answer them and say, here, doing exactly what I am doing now.

Over the past 24 years, my career has taken me from the tools in Smart Repair to becoming Head of Operations – South at Polygon. It’s been anything but linear moving through technical work, operations management, the commercial team as an RSM, stepping up to Commercial Director for Smart Repair, and finally into my current role. Each step has stretched me, challenged me and shaped how I lead today.
What has stayed constant throughout is the culture. This is a business where commitment is recognised, potential is nurtured and people genuinely want you to succeed. You’re encouraged to grow, to be curious, and to take opportunities that push you forward - sometimes into places you never expected. Why join this team? Because it’s a place where you can build a meaningful career surrounded by people who care about doing things well. A place where ideas matter, where hard work opens doors, and where you’re trusted to make an impact. My journey is proof that if you show up with the right attitude, this organisation will meet you with the support, belief, and opportunity to grow into the best version of yourself.

I have been with Polygon for a fair few years - I started as a temp, and the rest, as they say, is history. One of my early memories is working in the admin team. There had been severe flooding, and we were in surge. I remember working with paper files piled high, so high that we used to get a ruler out just to measure the pile, as if that somehow made the chaos feel more organised.
It was back in the days before we saved things on computers, when we filled absolutely everything in by hand. There was a real sense of chaos, but we were a team that laughed together, shared the pressure, and there was always someone ready to help if you needed support.
Over the years, I’ve watched Polygon evolve and worked in a few different teams: invoicing, dispatch, and for the last 15 years, I’ve been a Claims Manager. It's been a mix of roles, which has kept things interesting, and I’ve learned a lot through my journey.
I’ve had plenty of opportunities to grow through training and the support of my managers, but for me, it’s the people who make the biggest difference. I’ve worked with some great colleagues over the years, and that’s what makes Polygon what it is — a place full of people who genuinely care about each other and the work we do. It's important. We’re helping people at some of the most stressful moments — after fires, floods, or when they’re dealing with leaks they just can’t find. As a team, we’re there to listen, to give people reassurance.
Looking back, my journey here has been a positive one. Polygon is the kind of place where you can grow, feel supported, and be part of a team that genuinely looks out for each other.

I have been with the company for 11 years in total, starting as a Finisher, progressing to an Area Senior Finisher (ASF)/Project Manager, and more recently moving into my current role as a Regional Sales Manager.
I was a Finisher for 9-10 years, which I really enjoyed. I had the opportunity to work in different parts of the world and in some amazing venues, such as football stadiums and arenas. I then progressed into the role of ASF/Project Manager. This was a combination of spending half my time on the tools and half looking after an area of finishers, while assisting the Operations Manager. Most recently, I became a Regional Sales Manager. I have never had any sales experience, nor did I ever think I would become a salesman. However, the beauty of being part of such a large company is that it opens your eyes to opportunities and different career paths you may never have thought of. Polygon invests in its people, so I would say that if you have a good work ethic and a willingness to learn, who knows where you could end up. Throughout my time at the company, the main thing that stands out to me is that I have always felt part of a team. No matter how big or small the situation, whether work-related or personal, someone is always there to help or offer advice. I have met some amazing people along the way, many of whom will be friends for life.
